Homosexuals and homosexuality are natural and created by God, thus permissible within Islam, a discussion concluded here Thursday.
Moderate Muslim scholars said there were no reasons to reject homosexuals under Islam, and that the condemnation of homosexuals and homosexuality by mainstream ulema and many other Muslims was based on narrow-minded interpretations of Islamic teachings.
Siti Musdah Mulia of the Indonesia Conference of Religions and Peace cited the Koran’s al-Hujurat (49:3) that one of the blessings for human beings was that all men and women are equal, regardless of ethnicity, wealth, social positions or even sexual orientation.
“There is no difference between lesbians and nonlesbians. In the eyes of God, people are valued based on their piety,” she told the discussion organized by nongovernmental organization Arus Pelangi.
“And talking about piety is God’s prerogative to judge,” she added.
“The essence of the religion (Islam) is to humanize humans, respect and dignify them.”
Musdah said homosexuality was from God and should be considered natural, adding it was not pushed only by passion.
Mata Air magazine managing editor Soffa Ihsan said Islam’s acknowledgement of heterogeneity should also include homosexuality.
He said Muslims needed to continue to embrace ijtihad (the process of making a legal decision by independent interpretation of the Koran and the Sunnah) to avoid being stuck in the old paradigm without developing open-minded interpretations.
Another speaker at the discussion, Nurofiah of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), said the dominant notion of heterogeneity was a social construction, leading to the banning of homosexuality by the majority.
“Like gender bias or patriarchy, heterogeneity bias is socially constructed. It would be totally different if the ruling group was homosexuals,” she said.
Other speakers said the magnificence of Islam was that it could be blended and integrated into local culture.
“In fact, Indonesia’s culture has accepted homosexuality. The homosexual group in Bugis-Makassar tradition called Bissu is respected and given a high position in the kingdom.
“Also, we know that in Ponorogo (East Java) there has been acknowledgement of homosexuality,” Arus Pelangi head Rido Triawan said.
Condemnation of homosexuality was voiced by two conservative Muslim groups, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and Hizbut Thahir Indonesia (HTI).
“It’s a sin. We will not consider homosexuals an enemy, but we will make them aware that what they are doing is wrong,” MUI deputy chairman Amir Syarifuddin said.
Rokhmat, of the hardline HTI, several times asked homosexual participants in attendance to repent and force themselves to gradually return to the right path

Many “absolute” mistakes and absurdities expressed in the article above, and all of the mistakes are disgraceful, indecent and vatal to mankind as well as to whoever publicly said those mistakes. Those mistakes are:

There is no single verse in The Qur’an or hadiths from Prophet Muhammad SAW that allow, legitimate or legalize the practice of homosexuality/lesbian.
Many verses in the Qur’an strongly forbid human beings to falsely say that all bad, illegal, disgraceful or satanic deeds are created, allowed, pleased or ordered by God (Allah SWT), two of the verses are: Qur’an 6:28-29 and 2:169.
There are many verses in the Qur’an and hadiths from Prophet Muhammad SAW that disallow, curse and strongly forbid the practice of homosexuality/lesbian. Some of the Qur’anic verses are: 7:80, 7:81, 11:78, 11:79, 15:67, 15:68, 15:69, 15:70, 15:72, 21:74, 26:165, 26:166, 26:168, 27:54, 27:55, 29:28, 29:29, 54:37, 69:9.
In the book of hadiths, the Shahih Bukhary and Imam Muslim, Prophet Muhammad SAW cursed the practice of homosexuality/lesbian. It is a simple understanding in the Islamic and Qur’anic teachings that whenever Prophet Muhammad SAW curses any bad/satanic deeds, God almighty (Allah SWT) also curses them.
There is no sign, interpretation or indication in the Qur’an Chapter Al-Hujurat 49: verses 13 or 13 that say, legitimate or allows the practice of homosexuality/lesbian. These verses do not even discuss or talk about homosexuality/lesbian.

How could lesbian is concidered a pious person or the act of piety when it is clearly “forbidden” and “cursed” by God Almighty in the Qur’an ?
3. “The essence of the religion (Islam) is to humanize humans, respect and dignify them”
How could a person be called or considered a human being when he or she conducts or acts like animal ? How could we respect or dignify a human being when he or she does animal behaviors ? How could we humanize mankind by promoting bad or satanic deeds on them?
If they recognized and admitted that Islam would surely humanizes mankinds, then why they “forced” Islam to dehumanize mankinds by falsely claimed that Islam allows or legalizes homosexuality/lesbian?
Doing “Ijtihad” or “on-going fatwa efforts” is yes accepted in Islam. However, the spirits of Qur’an and hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad SAW are strongly required as primary criteria in the “ijtihad”. By avoiding this requirement, the fatwa will be chaotic and destruction to Muslim Ummah (nations). There are other requirements in performing “Ijtihad”, among others are: understanding of Arabic language and possessing a thorough knowledge of Islamic laws.
I’d like to make a very little correction or typo error to my comment as follows:

Correction/revision: It should say: “……Qur’an Chapter Al-Hujurat 49: verses 3 or 13…..”
Siti musdah mulia itu asal ngomong aja.Maybe she is also a lesbian .Emang semua berasal dari Tuhan.Semua penyakit dari Tuhan dan untuk itu manusia diberikan Allah akal agar bisa mengembankan akalnya dan mencari obat yang bisa menyembuhkannnya.Jadi gay dan lesbian itu termasuk penyakit.Dan itu harus di obati bukan malah dilestarikan.Dasar perempuan gila,Musdah itu udah lebih dari orang kafir.Karena mengingkari apa yang tertulis dalam Al Qur’an.Ginilah manusia kalau udah kebanyakan makan Uang haram dari Amerika/barat.

Well Pak Rudy, I think you have to understand the meaning of word “contextual”.
This is absolute insanity. I can’t believe these so-called Muslims allowed homosexuality and lesbianism to be accepted behavior in Islam.
Ijtihad ended in the fifth century. Individual Muslims cannot do their own ijtihad, independent of the ulema and the sahabas, who through their wisdom and insight dictated to us what is permissible and not permissible in the light of the Qur’an.
The hadeeth even prophesizes that as we approach Qiyamat,
liars and deceivers will rise among, but do not let them lead you astray. This was what our beloved prophet said. It seems that these gay and lesbian Muslims, these Irshad Manjis, these Imam Hamza Yusufs, and these other deceivers are reflective of the apostasy that will pervade the Islamic world in the end times, leading ultimately to the emergence of Dajjal.
